Asian handicap calculator: settle a bet from the final score

To settle an Asian Handicap bet, add the line to your team's goals and compare the result with the other side's goals. Quarter lines such as −0.75 split the stake across two lines, so a bet can end as a half win or a half loss. The calculator below does that split for you and shows the total return.

Choose the handicap line and decimal odds

Pick the line printed next to the team you backed on the bet slip. If you took the home side at −0.75, the away side in the same market sits at +0.75. Get the sign right: it is the difference between giving a goal start and receiving one.

The calculator uses decimal odds. Asian Handicap markets are often shown in Malay or Hong Kong odds, so convert them first with the odds converter for Malay, Hong Kong, Indonesian and decimal formats. Hong Kong odds of 0.90, for example, equal decimal 1.90.

Enter the score that counts for settlement

Type in the home and away goals, then choose your team. For each part of the stake the calculator works out margin = your goals − their goals + line.

Half lines (0.5, 1.5) cannot be a push, so they always settle as a full win or a full loss. Whole lines (0, 1, 2) can end level, and then the stake comes back. Quarter lines (0.25, 0.75, 1.25) are split: half the stake goes on the line below and half on the line above.

Quarter lines worked through: −0.75 and +0.25

Home −0.75 at 1.90, RM 100 stake. The stake splits into RM 50 on −0.5 and RM 50 on −1.

Away +0.25 at 1.95, RM 100 stake, final score 1-1. The RM 50 on the 0 line is a push and comes back. The RM 50 on +0.5 wins and pays RM 97.50. Total return RM 147.50, a profit of RM 47.50. Had the home side won 1-0, both halves would have lost.

Every line is explained in full in the guide to reading Asian Handicap 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 lines.

Common mistakes when checking a handicap bet

This tool settles a bet once the score is known. It does not tell you whether a line is worth taking, and every market still carries the bookmaker margin.

Frequently asked questions

What does an Asian Handicap of −0.75 mean?

A −0.75 line splits the stake in two: half on −0.5 and half on −1. If your team wins by two or more goals, both halves win. A one-goal win gives a half win. A draw or a defeat loses the whole stake.

How is a half win calculated in Asian Handicap?

Half the stake is paid at the full odds and the other half is returned. With RM 100 at odds of 1.90, the return is RM 50 × 1.90 plus RM 50, so RM 145. The net profit is RM 45, half the profit of a full win.

Does extra time count in handicap betting?

Usually not. Football Asian Handicap markets are normally settled on the 90-minute score including stoppage time. Extra time and penalties only count when the market clearly says so in the sportsbook rules.
